Soaping day!
Saturday, January 31, 2009

I came in the shop today instead of my daughter with plans of having a soap day!  I think I will make a baby soap with calendula flowers and lavender.  I need to make some Oatmeal and Honey ( as seen in picture) as I on'y have 4 bars left.  This is our biggest seller.  Then I may try something new like Femme Fatale or another scent I haven't soaped.  Patchouli and Sandalwood is on the list as we are completely out!  Off to have fun!

Cute new candle for Valentine's Day
Thursday, January 29, 2009

I found these cute containers and filled them with soywax and scented them strawberry shortcake.  This is such a yummy scent and has a terrific throw!  I am posting them on artfire.com and of course they are in store.

Recycle-Reuse-Refill
Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Did you know that you could recycle at Lights and Lathers? Bring us your empty candle containers and we refill them at 50 cents an ounce pluse a 50 cent wicking fee. Just think....you bring in a 8 oz container and it will cost $4.50 to refill it with your favorite scent! It does not have to be a container you originally bought from us. We will even refill other jars (like from YankMe Candles). Have an interesting candy dish??? We can turn it into a candle! Baby food jars make cute little candles as well. Jelly jars, wide mouth vases, pots, tumblers....the possibilities are endless.

The jars must meet the following criteria:

Clean: or a small fee will be charged for cleaning them
Heat Resistant: must be able to withstand heat and not crack.

If you have questions about anything just bring something in and we can let you know if it can be used. Your empty reed diffuser bottles can be refilled too!! Just ask!

Where's my website?
Monday, January 26, 2009

With Waldo! Apparently, there is some big bruh ha ha with my web host provider. Now my website and all of its content have disappeared and will be unavailable indefinitely.  This totally sucks! Really bad sucks! Friday I got an email saying that my site was being ran illegally. Ok, I am responsible for the host because? I sent my host the email and he replied that he was checking on it. Before I could move the site or do anything, my service has been suspended. So what do I do now? I don't even know who to complain to.  I wonder if I could sue the people who took my website down? I don't even know their name! What would Judge Judy say?

But that's okay! The blog will now be at the forefront of our communication. We want to keep you informed about our great soaps and candles.

New containers!
Sunday, January 25, 2009

After much research and long hours of contemplation, we chose new candle containers. We decided on the glass tumbler with matte silver lid and the small silver tins. Of course, just making the decision was half the battle! Testing which wick to use and labeling was the longest part. We are quite happy with these new containers and hope our customers will be too! Let us know what you think!

New Candle Containers
Sunday, January 4, 2009

How can something so simple be so important?? My current containers, the frosted ones, are no longer available..leaving me with the dreaded task of finding new ones. Usually this is something I put upon myself as I become bored with my current containers or I am looking for a new style...I unfortunately become quite fixated on this task and drive my family crazy with discussion on what sizes would be best, which ones they like better, the cost...etc. This time however, I really like the frosted containers!! Everyone liked them! So....here I go....off to find that perfect container. Any suggestions or requests are gladly accepted.
